Blue is the Warmest Colour / La vie d'Adèle

We watched ‘Blue is the Warmest Colour’ over the holiday and thought it was a fantastic movie. Mike is now absolutely in love with Adèle (more so the character than the actress, but he can’t stop practising how to pronounce her name ‘Exarchopoulos’ so I think he has a bit of a crush on the real person as well). She is certainly quite cute and has an amazing smile so I sort of see why he fancies her (I’m just not entirely sure why he is quite so obsessed with her).

The movie has been sold on the lesbian sex scenes, which are certainly quite intense and more explicit than anything I've seen in mainstream cinema, but the story as a whole is very powerful and even though it is a long film, it held our attention and really portrayed the emotion of the characters to the extent that we desperately cared what happened to them. The main point of this post is to recommend that you don't just watch the sex scenes - the rest of the movie is also fantastic.
